Who we are
Meet the Team
Dr. Lindsey Karlin, PT, DPT, Co-founder
Physical therapy has helped shape Lindsey's life since she was a child. At birth, Lindsey was born with a nerve injury, resulting in a loss of mobility of her right arm. For years, she worked with a physical therapist to restore mobility and function which allowed her to succeed in her softball career, where she played at the collegiate level and internationally. Because of this lifelong experience, she gained a passion for functional based movement and continues to "experiment" with movement patterns to see how much more mobility she can achieve. She strives to be a motivator and listener in order to incorporate movement-based medicine into her patient's lifestyles.
Lindsey was inspired to co-found Wild Root with Jen after realizing how like-minded they were in regard to health and wellness. Feeling frustrated with the current healthcare system that felt limiting to her patient's care, her friendship with Jen cultivated the confidence to take the leap and control with her career. With 5+ years of hands on clinical experience, Lindsey has developed a multi-faceted approach to her treatment style. Lindsey has clinical experience with various orthopedic, neurological, and post-operative care, however has a special interest in treating athletes, complex spinal patients, and headaches. She is Functional Dry Needling I and II certified, CPR and BLS certified.
Born and raised in Berthoud, Colorado, Lindsey graduated with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, backpacking, cooking, and picking up on any local sports teams. As a new mom and avid dog lover, Lindsey is looking for any opportunity to adventure with her family.
Jen Kummrow CPT, MPH, Co-founder
Jen has long held a passion for promoting optimal quality of life through movement. As an avid movement enthusiast, she strives to re-program your relationship with movement. She works individually with each person to find the ‘right key’ unlocking the door to movement that feels good in your brain and your body - and is sustainable too!
This interest and experience have resulted in a life-long pursuit of health promotion. In a world where the big healthcare systems and insurance corporations are failing to improve health outcomes, and preventative health is not lucrative for big monetizing systems; Jen appreciates a more integrative and holistic approach to health.
After obtaining her B.S. in psychology from Boise State University, getting her personal training certification and publishing numerous research publications with the regional medical center, she transitioned to graduate studies in public health at Colorado State University (specifically health communication). This time also resulted in a yoga teaching certification, health coach certification and continued frustration with the limited lens through which insurance looks at health. Post-grad, Jen managed and co-owned a small outpatient physical therapy clinic in Northern Colorado for almost 9 years. Here she found her niche with exercise prescription and her passion for coaching individuals to improve health outside of the traditional medical channels. Working in synergy with the physiotherapists provides Jen immense clinical insight/applications. It also cultivated the relationship and collaboration with Dr. Lindsey over 5 years, inspiring Wild Root’s creation.
In her free time, Jen enjoys outdoor activities, hanging with her pup Keaton and traveling whenever possible.
